YSA Sardines, Denny's, and Facebook

12.4.17

Happy December group email receivers! I hope everyone enjoyed their week and that those in SLC are doing some donuts in the snow! To start off, I got Facebook this week so you can go ahead and add me on there if you want to have some inspiring messages on your feed! (Henry Thompson) I went on 3 exchanges this week so most of my time was spent in other places. It was interesting but I really enjoy my own area and like sleeping in my own bed. The most fun thing happened during exchanges this week though. I was in Davis serving with an Elder in the YSA ward there. His name is Elder Blake Kelso and he went to Olympus. He knows the Curtis family and also the Pinnocks I think,  so that is pretty cool! YSA work is weird.... it's not actual missionary work. At night, the missionaries are supposed to go with the ward to do activities such as sports night and stuff like that. We ended up playing Sardines on the UC Davis campus and it was really fun but I sure didn't feel like a missionary. It was just me and my companion, playing sardines with a bunch of 25-year-olds on a college campus. Everyone also wonders why I don't wear a coat here and I tell them it's because I'm from Utah and this is pretty warm for me! (really, it's because his mom hadn't sent his coat until today... #momfail)
Friday was really cool! I was on exchanges with one of our Zone Leaders and we decided to celebrate it being December now and went out to eat at Denny's! While we were there, someone decided to #LightTheWorld and paid for all 5 of our meals! The next day, we went super hard on the work! We are supposed to get 12 street contacts each day but we ended up with about 40! We also got 7 potential investigators so it was a really productive day!!
Yesterday was kind of long because it was Fast Sunday and I was more hungry than I had probably ever been. But it was interesting as well, because we taught a nun the Plan Of Salvation and she agrees with pretty much all of it! After we were done, she said the nicest prayer for us; asking God if He would bless us with 100% success on our missions. It meant a lot to me!
The song of the week is the song that they play in all of the #LightTheWorld videos! I encourage all of you to look at the video for each day and to follow the calendar and make the world a better place! (LDS.org)  It will help the people you serve and it will also help you in this Christmas season!!
Much love to you all! Enjoy that snow for me.
