12.11.17 Basketball in Dress Shoes

12.11.17

Hello all of you Christmasy people! I hope that at least 6-7% still read these. This week was pretty great. It started off with our Light The World video getting almost 15,000 views on Facebook! If you havent seen it, go check it out! It is posted by a guy named Matthew Pederson. It's all about things we can do to Light The World this year!
Some highlights for this week: on Tuesday night we saw some guys playing basketball at a park so we decided to play with them! Missionaries vs regular guys, and we were all in our white shirts and nice shoes and everything so we had some good blisters afterward. It was a cool way to introduce some people to what we do as missionaries.
On thursday, we set up a booth at the christmas tree lighting in "downtown" dixon. We talked to everyone who was there and we got their attention with some facepainting that a sister in our district was doing. It was a great success and we were able to be a part of the community and meet some great people!
We got two new investigators on Saturday, Damon and Lizzie. Damon is a guy who wants to know where God is and wants to come closer to Jesus Christ so we thought it was perfect!! He is the only person I've met on my mission who has told me that he is interested!
Lizzie moved here from Nigeria and requested a Bible and said she used to come to church! We will be visiting both of them this upcoming week and hopefully getting them closer to Christ!!
Funny story: we were knocking doors in a part of town and a lady answered and told us to go away because she was in the middle of breakfast. I looked at my watch because it was 3:30 in the afternoon. She realized how dumb that sounded and just quietly shut the door. That's an L for us but at least it was funny. We had Indian food at a member's house that night so shoutout to my Ashabadi family!!
I was asked to give a talk about Light The World yesterday and I think I did a decent job!
That's about it for this week.  The song of the week is "The Guns of Brixton" by The Clash!! I remember listening to The Clash in India with Thomas and Matt last year so that's always a fun memory!
I hope everyone has a great week! Happy holidays!
